Poker is a game played with a deck of cards. The object of the game is to create the best hand possible. To do this, players use the cards they are dealt, as well as their own betting abilities.<\/p>\n
Players start the game by putting a small bet in the pot, called the ante. This bet is usually one dollar or $5. In some poker games, the pot is split between the highest and lowest hands.<\/p>\n
If no one calls the bet, the pot is awarded to the player with the highest poker hand. A player with the best hand may choose to bluff, which means he will bet that he has the best hand.<\/p>\n
Each player is dealt a set of cards face up. These cards are placed in the middle of the table.<\/p>\n
After all the cards have been dealt, a second round of betting is held. This is the showdown, when all of the players’ hands are revealed.<\/p>\n
The final round of betting begins with the player with the best face-up card. The player can then match the bet, raise, fold, or re-raise the bet.<\/p>\n
After the initial betting round, all but one player will fold. When a player folds, he forfeits the right to the original pot.<\/p>\n
